Commercial Aluminium Slat Screening – Kensington, Sydney
Custom Aluminium Screening Around Fire Tanks
COMFYARD completed a custom commercial aluminium screening project in Kensington, Sydney, providing a new horizontal slatted screen system around the site's fire tanks.
The project was designed to create a clean, contemporary enclosure around the existing fire-service infrastructure while maintaining access and allowing the equipment to remain functional.
The scale and height of the installation required careful planning and custom construction. The completed screen reaches approximately 3.5 metres high, with eight large aluminium screen sections installed around the fire tanks.
Project Details
Project: Custom Aluminium Horizontal Slatted Screening
Location: Kensington, Sydney NSW
Project Type: Commercial
Application: Fire tank screening
Screen Length: Approximately 15.9m
Screen Height: Approximately 3.5m
Panels: 8 custom panels

Custom 3.5m-High Aluminium Screen
The screening system was designed specifically for the site rather than using a standard fence configuration.
The installation included:
8 custom aluminium screen panels
Panels approximately 1,990mm wide
Overall screen height of approximately 3,500mm
65 × 16mm horizontal aluminium slats
10mm gaps between slats
65 × 65mm steel posts concreted into the ground
Custom screen construction extending 700mm above the existing concrete slab
Pale Eucalyptus finish
Supply and installation
The eight panels provide approximately 15.9 metres of screen width, creating a continuous visual enclosure around the fire-service equipment.
Screening Around Existing Fire-Service Equipment
A key consideration of this project was the location of the screening around existing fire tanks and associated pipework.
The aluminium slatted structure needed to provide an effective visual screen while working around the existing infrastructure and maintaining the required space around the equipment.
The horizontal slat design creates a consistent architectural appearance while allowing airflow through the screen.
Designed for a Commercial Environment
The screening was constructed using aluminium slats supported by substantial steel posts concreted into the ground. The combination of aluminium screening and structural steel supports was selected to provide a robust solution suitable for a large commercial installation.
The Pale Eucalyptus finish gives the screen a natural, understated appearance that integrates with the surrounding landscaping and existing property.
Custom Installation at 3.5 Metres High
The height of the screen was one of the defining features of this project.
The quotation allowed for the screen to be constructed 700mm above the existing concrete slab, achieving an overall height of approximately 3,500mm. This required the screen structure and supporting posts to be carefully planned and installed to suit the site conditions.
Project Transformation
The completed installation provides a much cleaner and more integrated appearance around the fire tanks.
Rather than leaving large service tanks and associated pipework exposed, the custom aluminium screening creates a consistent architectural element that fits into the surrounding landscaped environment.
The horizontal slatted design provides a contemporary finish while retaining visibility and airflow through the gaps between the blades.
